A Walk in the Woods

The colours of nature are at their most vibrant at this time of year.

The challenge to the photographer is to go out and find it at its best, which is easier said than done. Imagine my pleasant surprise to stumble upon this scene in a woods I had never visited before. I don't think I've taken a photograph with such a wide range of colours before, may the colours last long enough for me to find some more scenes.

A similar scene taken at the same time works well as a square crop.

Black Carts, Hadrian's Wall, Northumberland
This picture was taken to show the North Ditch...........
As its name implies it was just to the north of Hadrian's Wall. Hadrian's Wall was more than just a Wall, it was a series of defensive ditches and mounds of which the Wall was the main one. Each in itself was a significant obstacle. This picture was taken at Black Carts on a beautiful frosty morning with fog and mist ebbibg and flowing along the Wall

One of the great things about living in the North East is the diversity of the region.

A recent afternoons wandering in the Northumberland National Park, brought me to an area I've only started to take a bit more interest in. Autumn was in mind for my photography when I set off, however I soon realised the best of it had gone, so a change of plan brought me further into the hills.

Due to a lot of recent rain, the rivers were slightly swollen and I was drawn to this spot. The water was running fast and the aim was to capture the movement of the water and try and combine it with the potential colours of a sunset. On this occasion I was lucky that the colours of the clouds were so vibrant, there are so many times when I am not so lucky!

On another note our exhibition starts this week at the Biscuit Factory and runs until the end of February so please come along to see our photographs in print.

After a prolonged break it is good to be back again...................
