Spending almost all my life amongst the hills photographing the Solway Firth presented new challenges. This early spring evening after a cold, windy wait was perfect. The heavy sky allowed the sun to stream through a distant break in the clouds emphsising the Edward I monument and Criffel, the distant hill on the Scottish side of the estuary.
