"West Allendale, Northumberland" by Roger Clegg

Catalogue number: WA325A

The River West Allen is a relatively short river with its source high in the North Pennine Fells of West Allendale. It is fast flowing and shallow, eventually merging with the River East Allen by Cupola Bridge and forming the River Allen. Like so many hill country rivers it has a benign nature most of the time but on occasions can become a dangerous torrent with heavy rain or rapid snow melt.
